About

We partner with civil society organisations, networks, and movements to design strategies rooted in participation, shared power, and lasting impact.

Dirk Slater, Founder

Founded and led by Dirk Slater, whose career spans nearly three decades of convening people in diverse contexts — from grassroots community organisers to global civil society networks. Dirk has worked in 40+ countries, led 100+ projects, and coached 1,000+ trainers and facilitators.

Based in the UK, FabRiders was founded in 2012 with a simple conviction: that the best strategies emerge when the people most affected by a problem are at the centre of designing the solution. Every engagement begins with listening, and every plan is built to be owned by the community it serves.

Principles & Values

These seven commitments guide every engagement, from the first conversation to the final deliverable.

1
Co-creation, shared ownership, and inclusion
Ensuring every voice shapes the outcome.

2
Iterative, feedback-driven methodologies
Plans that evolve with the people and context they serve.

3
Capacity building and social learning
Growing skills within communities, not creating dependence.

4
Flexibility across diverse contexts
Approaches adapted to local realities, cultures, and power dynamics.

5
Shared visions of success and theories of change
Strategy grounded in collective goals, not imposed frameworks.

6
Technology in service to communities
Tools chosen for usefulness, not novelty.

7
Commitment to collective power and social justice
Every project in service of equitable, lasting change.
