The (Virtual) Workshop Lab

Improve your offline and online training and facilitation skills.

Join us for this virtual event, March 26th at 10am GMT.

During this workshop, you will get a grounding on how to design participatory and interactive sessions that support learning and knowledge sharing. In the morning, we will do a deep dive into adult learning and review research that led to a session format known as ADIDS (Activity, Discussion, Input, Deepening and Synthesis). In the afternoon, you will design your own workshop or convening based on ADIDS and have an opportunity to review other participants designs.

You will leave with:

  • a peer-reviewed session design ready for implementation
  • a greater understanding of how to run effective workshops and convenings
    • along with best practices for engaging participants in virtual events.
  • connections with others who are on a similar learning journey.

We will also discuss options to support your growth as a facilitator.

This workshop is designed for people working in charities.

The Workshop Lab is facilitated by Dirk Slater, who has spent the last quarter of a century finetuning his training and facilitation techniques. Over the last decade, he has been on a quest to deliver virtual meetings that don’t suck. He is the Facilitation Support Coach for MozFest, supporting and training the 500+ facilitators who deliver participatory sessions.
